In 2002, twenty team members from across Barry-Wehmiller gathered to explore the best of our experiences in leadership and motivation. Little did they realize the watershed event this meeting would become. From their thoughtful dialogue emerged a powerful list of ideal behaviors within an ideal corporate culture. That simple yet profound list became the inspiration for our Guiding Principles of Leadership, Barry-Wehmiller’s cultural vision statement, a manifesto for the way we are called to work and live each day.
The preeminent line of our GPL stands as a reminder of the deeply-rooted vision that unites our global organization: We measure success by the way we touch the lives of people. We strive daily to bring meaning and purpose to the work of our team members by fostering a culture based upon the tenets of our Guiding Principles: trust, respect, teamwork, recognition, continuous improvement and personal growth. But the lives we are called to touch don’t end there. From our team members’ families, to our customers and suppliers, to our shareholders, to the communities in which we work and live, we challenge ourselves to make a positive impact on all the lives we touch through the course of our business. May the care and compassion we feel inside Barry-Wehmiller ripple out beyond our walls.
